I may have to make an updated list soon anyway. This was pre-Covid, and I'm hoping enough has come on the market in the past five years to fill another list.
Great post! I grew up thinking I was Pippi Longstocking. My mom gave me a copy of Winnie the Pooh and told me it really wasn’t a children’s book and I should reread it when I grew up.
I also wrote a children's book that is up on Amazon but currently being re-illustrated. It's about a young girl and her grandfather who tells her stories of the way life was before the "authorities" took over. The Myth of Necessary Evils. Thanks for letting us share!
Loved this anti-authoritarian kidlit compilation, Bretigne! I hope you'll be okay with my adding a link to my series (however less classic!) for being anti-authoritarian via its free expression themes! http://www.jenswanndowney.com/the-accidental-keyhand.html and http://www.jenswanndowney.com/sword-in-the-stacks.html
Yes of course!

I'm working on a new one. : )
Awesome! Let me know when it's ready and I can help you promote it. Maybe you can come on my podcast to talk about it?

Still one of my all-time favorites!

That's all very well, but children don't read books anymore.
